ALYoF - February goal met

My goal was to get another snowman done.  Here he is with his buddy.  We will be keeping the one with the black hat/scarf and giving the blue one as a gift.  Rusty was snoozing so he missed out on the photo op.

Go check out who all met their goals.  ALYoF button on my sidebar.  I was #34 on the goal setting list.

Soupcon Progress

I finally got the time to work on my Soupcon block.

Here is step 3 done.  Ignore the blue in the background that the comforter on my bed.

Here is step 4 done.

I am thinking that after the final step for the top is done I am going to do a ribbon rose in the center of the block.  Will hide my inexperienced sewing in the center.

W.I.P. 2-19-2014

Got a few more done for the local BoM's.

Both of these are from local quilt shop BoM's.

February Block - have shown a few of the blocks from this set before.

Only 2 months in for this BoM.  Using my material for this one.  I chose Stonehenge material.

February Block

January Block

The thirds local BoM is this Saturday so should have a block to show you next week.

Have done some of the FMQ from Building Blocks (button on my sidebar).  Here is the quilting to date.  I think I did okay but need a lot more practice.  Haven't done this weeks fmq yet am hoping to get to that tomorrow.

Am using a contrasting color for the quilting so I can really see where I need the practice.  It has been interesting.

My hexie obsession is growing

I admit it I am addicted.  On top of 2 Hexie BoM's I decided to do a hexi quilt from that Printemps Jelly Roll I won a little while ago.  Here is my progress so far.

I saw this layout online one day and it stuck in my mind.  I will be doing 40 sets of 13 hexies as shown plus some fillers around the edges to make a throw quilt approx 4 x 4 feet (played around with it in eq7).  I find the hand stitching relaxing except my one finger is getting stiff and sore at times.

Will be linking up with Hexie Weekend button on my sidebar.

Winter Crazy Quilt Block

Is pieced, stitched and embellished.

The stitching was done using 2 strands of dmc floss or single strand crochet cotton.  The snowman is padded applique with french knot eyes, smile and buttons, the nose is a lazy daisy stitch.  The arms are chain stitched.  Also used some beads for embellishments of the stitching.  The snowflakes were done using white silk ribbon in either 4mm or 7mm size.  I used some lace material to similulate snow over ground and grass on the bottom.

This is my first actual crazy quilt block.  I did a winter themed one earlier but didn't get to the embellishment phase when I decided to redo it and did this one.

February 2014 goals

The one thing that I really want to get done this month inbetween all of the BoM's is to turn this (I have cut out all of the circles needed for the yo-yo's since I took this picture)

into this

No not Rusty, the snowman.  One will be for me while the other will be a christmas present for someone (haven't decided who yet though).  This one will have a different hat & scarf though.
