Finally a finish (sort of)

After a very long year I have finally gotten all of my "Mimi's Bloomers designed by Erin Russek of One Piece at a Time" blocks appliqued.  Am acually quite shocked that I managed to stay somewhat caught up.  Finished 3 blocks in the last month.  Here are the pictures of the blocks.  Some you have seen before and some you haven't.

You can still get the pattern for all but the center block for free on her website.  Not sure how much longer she will have them as she is starting a new BoM this month.

All of the applique was hand stitched

Health Update

Well I am finally half way through my chemo treatments.  I have 3 treatments left to go.  Then a short break then 5 weeks of radiation therapy.  It has been and will be a rough road, but there seems to be some light at the end of the tunnel.

Health Update

Get to heal up for the rest of the month.  Get strength back and hopefully most of the motion back in my arm.  Nov 9 is my chemo start date.  6 sessions 3 weeks apart.  Then will have a couple of weeks off then start radiation daily (mon to fri) for 5 weeks.  The next 6 months are going to be real rough.

Health Update

Surgery was at noon Tuesday Oct 2.  They kept me in overnight for observation.  I am home now but don't have full use of my right arm.  So now the real torture has arrived.  I can't do any of my crafts for a few more days then can try some hand work.

Am supposed to start chemo in about a month so will be in and out of touch for awhile still.

Update after seeing surgeon

Saw the surgeon today.  He is one of those people that just exudes calmness; which is a very good thing.  We got a lot of information from him.

They are running another test, results will come in 10 to 14 days.  This will let us know if I have the gene that makes me susceptible to cancer.  These results will determine the severity of the surgery which is tentatively scheduled for Sept 28 but there will be 2 surgeons present so will be changed if the second surgeon isn't free.  I will find out the date for sure next Wednesday.

There are now 2 definite things that will be happening.
1.  I will be having surgery
2.  I will have to have chemotherapy.

Still to be determined.
1.  Severity of surgery
2.  Radiation therapy.  This they will not be known until after surgery.

So now we sit and wait again.

Update

Got a phone call from the radiologist today.  The results were back from the biopsies.  The 2 masses are both malignant.  He didn't say if the biopsy of the lymph node was cancerous or not but he did say that they need to be removed.  I see the surgeon at noon on Monday so will find out the course of treatment that is best for my situation.
