Question of the week

I will hopefully be asking a question each Friday.  Please respond and see what everyone else thinks as well.

This weeks question.

What is your favorite applique method and why?

I am fairly new to applique and have been trying out different methods.  So far have tried invisible applique by machine, starch and iron technique.

If by hand, needleturn. I was taught by Laurene Sinema and she was a dear friend as well as an applique VIP. She was a huge impact on many areas of my life. She made my work much neater and easier, and professional looking. I like the fact that I don't have traced lines to worry about covering or turning under. Blocks are always perfectly square because I start with a larger block, applique and then square up.

If by machine, definitely the buttonhole stitch over fused pieces. I like the look of it, and the neatness.

I have done little applique but like to iron under about 1/4" and stitch by hand when I do.
