More Christmas decorations

Got these ones finished and on the tree.  I have 1 more to do plus I would like to redo the Santa didn't have the correct gray beads.

This is a work in progress.  It is taking forever.  The fringe will go all the way around.  It is a small ornament cover.

Crocheted Angels

These are hand crocheted angels that I made about 11 or 12 years ago.  Unfortunately I used starch to stiffen them and they are starting to yellow quite badly.  Will have to start replacing them one of these days.

This is what I have been working on lately

Taking a short break from the CQ seam stitch along to get some Christmas decorations made.

Not too sure if I like these ones or not

Will take and post some pictures of my crochet work from quite awhile ago.

Here are seams 3 - 6

Not sure if I will ever catch up but will keep plugging away.

I am keeping a note book which will tell me down the road what size threads/ribbon etc was used.

It has been awhile and for that I apologize.

Been going through tests and tired of writing about my health problems.

Have not been able to work on the 2020 CQ challenge but did start (slowly and am behind already) the 500 seam challenge with Kathy Shaw.  The idea is to do a seam a day until all 500 are done from her new book.  I already had the book and figured that is something easy I can do but will be behind a lot.

Here is seam 1 and 2.

Will try to post more regularly.

Eye Candy from ICQC105 class

Here are my finished products (except for 1 of them) from the last Kathy Shaw class.

I decided to frame them and put them on shelves and up on the wall.

The funky flower project is still waiting to be framed then it too will go up on a wall.  I find that they add an interesting focal point and definitely adds color.

Personal Challenge (formerly my 2020 challenge) First block.

Not completed but I have had so many other things going on.  Figured it was about time I showed a picture.

The cretan stitch seam with the red arrows is waiting for some sequins or Fargo Roses.

The feather stitch seam is waiting for some bullions.

The chevron is waiting for some Brazilian cast on stitches.

The double herringbone is waiting for some sequins or beads (haven't decided yet).

The side seam by the tree will be some shiny fiber couched down in a zig zag shape with some type of small flower embroidered.

The bottom section will be some type of brazilian flower.

The section beside the tree with be some type of silk ribbonflower.

The middle section with the tree will have a 3 dimensional butterfly which will be the last thing added.

That is as far as my thought process has gone so far.

I am not going to stress the 2020 unique items nor even getting it done on a certain time so guess it is going to be changed from a 2020 challenge to a personal challenge.

Been awhile

It has been quite awhile since I have posted.  Will try to do better.  Just some little finishes for me.  Have been having some health and motivational issues that I am hoping are over.

Have you heard about 2020 quilt challenge.  After much hemming and hawing I have decided to join in.  Am in the process of finishing off a few more small projects and getting some prep work done for the challenge.

I will be doing CQ blocks where the connecting theme will be Butterflies.  Each of the 100+ blocks will have a different butterfly on it.  Some more than one.  Other then Butterflies will be flowers done in different types of embroidery. Will be a challenge but have the perfect wall for it :)

Will show you my finishes and each block as they are done.

3-20-2017 A Finish

Here is my Four Seasons - Spring block for the CQ for Newbies Swap.  Wasn't how I had it planned:  ran into difficulty doing what I wanted.  So I ended up settling.

Have one of my CQJP2015 blocks quilted and ready for binding.  Will show that one when it is completed.

Finally a finish!

I have been feeling sorry for myself and have been feeling very frustrated.  Have had hand/finger injuries one after the other for the past few months.  Now they all finally seem to be healed and I can stitch again.

Got these all quilted/bound/hanging sleeves attached.  These with what I already have done from a few years ago;  I now have something for all holidays except Easter and need something patriotic.  Hope to have something for those 2 holidays by the end of the year.

Next project(s) are to get these ready to hang.  Decided to do them as single wall hangings and have the perfect spot for 10 possibly 12 of them in my living room.  Still need to do the blocks for November and December.  The blocks are pieced but have not even started on the seams.

Hope to have something else to show you in the next week or 2.  Am also busy working in the yard/garden and the weather has been so mild that I can get a head start.

2-13-2017 better late than never

I meant to post on Monday but one thing led to another and I got busy and it slipped my mind.

I have 7 mini wallhangings with the binding and sleeves on just need to hand sew the bottom of the sleeves.

Made up 2 CQ block bases for a swap.  Have most of the seams done on 1 of them but now I need to take a break from all hand work.

This winter has been real hard on my skin.  It has been so dry and cold that my skin and nails are having fits.  I broke my thumb nail awhile ago and it split down into the pink (owie).  Now it is curling and causing my skin to split.  Thought it was healed but the embroidery yesterday split it open again.  So will be taking a break from all hand crafts until the silly thing heals.

Will keep you posted.  Guess today I tidy my sewing room and get ready to machine quilt.

Sorry I haven't been posting but have been fighting some weird flu or something.  Have not gotten hardly anything done the last week and half.  Will hopefully have something to post next Monday again.

The 3 rose buds are done.  Currently working on partial open roses.  Have 1 and a half crocheted.  Also have 3 Calla Lilies crocheted.

Plans for this week:

Get some more flowers crocheted.

Start quilting my Labrynth quilt.

Possibly work on my Secret Garden CQ block.

Week of 1-16-2017

Got this flower made up.  Not going to put it on a stem as it will be going to John's work and on his desk.

Have these Rose buds crocheted still need to sew in a few ends on the sepals.  These should be finished in a couple of days.  Dont' get much done when John is home and he is home today.

This is a CQ block am working on for the CQ for Newbies "Four Seasons - Winter" swap.  It should also be finished this week.

Am also planning on working on some "Fizzy Toilet Bombs" today.  Will be the first time so am hoping they work as I am not putting in the amount of essential oils they say to use.  Want just a hint of scent not stink me out of the house.

Am linking up with Esther Aliu's WOW

WIP's - misc.

BEADING - These were supposed to be made into little bags and given for Christmas gifts.  Were misplaced during the move so maybe this year :)

TATTING - My new addiction Ice Drops.  These are so pretty and would like to have enough to decorate the tree this year plus some to give away as gifts.  My tatting is still slow going until I get my calluses back.

CRAZY QUILTING - I had submitted this as an entry for the 2017 CQ Calendar.  I wasn't going to but hubs talked me into it.  Well...we all know how that turned out.  I want to take the time to finish it the way I had originally wanted to but had run out of time.  (Needed to get ready for surgery then was out of commission for almost 2 months, then went on holidays).

Changes that I want to make.

1.  Get rid of the butterfly beads and embroidery some insects in their place.

2.  Fix the path way with what would look like a little bullion fence on both sides.

CROCHET - Crocheted flowers  I have a few of her patterns and would like to make a nice bouquet for my living room.

Along with all of these (3 posts worth) I have various other items on the go.  This year I want to use to get things done.

Machine Quilting WIP's

MQ 1 & 2 - Will not have much quilting on them.  I did embellish both of them though.

MQ 3 - Bargello with some batik.  Am thinking of small swells for the quilting.  The binding will be the 2 orangish fabric in a about a 3 or 4 inch stripe.

MQ 4 -  This is a BoM of Esther Aliu's a few years ago.  Don't want to quilt over top of the applique so not sure how I will quilt it.

MQ 5 - Labyrinth quilt.  Have had this top done for quite awhile.  Am thinking straight line quilting and with shadowing outside of the design.

MQ 6 - Bali Bedrunner.  Am thinking of stitch in the ditch for a start.  The offwhite sections will need something more but haven't decided yet.

MQ 7 - This was a block of the month at a LQS.  Haven't decided how to quilt it yet.

Hand Quilting WIP'S

HQ 1: Two fabric applique whimsical Christmas Tree.  About 1/3 quilted.

HQ 2 - 6:  A variety of stitcheries.  These will not have much quilting on them.

HQ7 - Am not happy with the corners so will remove them making it a hexagon shaped quilt.  Will quilt it a giant spiral from the center.  Still needs backing and binding (though I had some but can't seem to find it).  The picture only shows a section.

More posts coming still have machine quilting wip's, needing backing & binding wip's, and then the unfinished quilt top wip's

Happy New Year everyone

Sorry I have not been posting much.  Have had so much going on.

We moved mid September, still have a few boxes here and there with misc stuff.

Shortly after moving I cut my finger and finger nail, 4 stitches and about 2 months later I finally have full use of my left index finger again.  The nail had to be kept covered until it grew out enough to be cut back.

Add that to the fact that Oct - Dec are always bad times for me.  Miss my sons over the holidays.  Is hard being so far away from them.

Will try posting more regularly.  This is the year that I want to get a bunch of stuff finished.
