W.I.P. 3-26-2014

Along with my last 2 posts Finally Caught Up & Local BoM's I have also been working on these.

Hrmm what is this going to be.  Will be working on this on and off for awhile.

Starting some of the cutting for the Triangle QAL.  Cutting is supposed to start on Friday but I need a head start.  My right arm (I am right handed) still isn't anywhere near full strength.  They are starting to think that something might have happened to it while I was going through all those surgeries last year.

Here is my hexie quilt progress.  Is going together in splurts but is slowly getting there.

There is also my cq block from Kathy Shaw's class.  Still have ribbon embroidery, beads and charms left to do.

Will be linking up with WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced & Esther Aliu's WoW.

Go check out what others are up to and enjoy all that eyecandy.

ALSO GO ENTER MY  Giveaway for US residents only sorry.

Finally caught up

I fell way behind on the FMQ Building Blocks with Leah Day (button on sidebar) when I first hurt my back again then caught that horrible virus.  I got all caught up today had already done all of Januarys blocks before and posted pictures.  Here are the blocks for February and March.  They are far from perfect but I am learning what works best for me.

Rusty says they are okay mom, can we go cuddle now.

Still need a lot more practice but I am slowly getting there.

Local BoM's

I was going to drop 2 once the current ones were completed.  Now will only be dropping 1 of them.  Found out next years for the 1 is going to be batiks in colors I adore so will be signing up again :)  The other one I will be dropping.

Local BoM 1.  3rd block of the year.  Am using my material Stonehenge Caribbean except for the background which is also Stonehenge but from a different collection.

Local BoM 2.  Here is my corrected block from last month and block #11.

Local BoM 3.  Can't do the block as the material they supplied wasn't big enough.  Talked to them and I can pick it up next month.  They are on the other side of town.

March Goal - met

Got it done this morning after miscutting and other mishaps.  Was going to do castles for my niece but found out she isn't interested in them so much anymore.  Her big thing currently is horses, so....

Here is her wallhanging.  Will also be her christmas gift this year.

Horses were machine embroidered not my digitizing not sure where I got the designs from.  Background material is cut into a hexie shape leaving room to turn over the black material without being on top of the horse.  Make a quilt sandwich with the back/frame being larger.  Fold the back/frame over twice and stitch down.  I used the sewing machine but could be done by hand.  Then I just zigzagged them together.

Linking up to ALYoF was number 75 on the goal list and A Handmade Christmas Challenge.  Both have buttons on my sidebar.  Go check out the eye candy.

Please while you are here enter my giveaway (only open to US residents sorry).  Here is the link

Have joined the Triangle QAL

It sounds interesting if you want to check it out click here Triangle QAL or the button on my sidebar.

Mine will be scrappy using these fabrics.  Most are reproduction prints.

I am sort of on a fabric diet.  I need to use up what is in my stash.

Hexie Progress

Spent some time on this today.  Here is my progress so far.  Have most of the stars/flakes sewn together and am now sewing them altogether.

Will need to decide to fill it out to a hexagon shape or square shape to finish, but that can be decided later.

W.I.P. 3-20-2014

Here is what I have been working on over the last week.

1.  Taking a crazy quilt class with Kathy Shaw the link will take you to her website.  So far has been very informative.

First picture is my basic bare block.  Second is with embroidery added.

still have a long way to go before it is finished.  Will be added lace, ribbon embroidery, bead and charms.

2.  Finally set up my embroidery machine again and stitched out these horse heads for my niece.  Was going to do castles but found out she isn't that into them anymore.

Will be making these into framed hexies and sewing them into this layout for a wallhanging.  Will be her Christmas present this year.

3.  Just started sewing the hexies together.  The cq block has been taking most of my time lately though.

W.I.P. March 2014

Here is what I currently have on the go.  Haven't been able to get much finished as I am still sick and according to the doctor will be for another few weeks :(  Nothing serious just a lingering cough that is a real nuisance.

Local BoM

2 more blocks to go to finish this one.

My hexie project is ongoing.  Here are the pieces I have done.

The top 2 rows are waiting to be sewn into the same shape as the stack above.  The others will be partials.  Once I get these 2 rows done I will start sewing the shapes together.

Haven't done anything on my quilting.

Will be linking up to Esther's WoW, Linky Tuesday at Freemotion by the River & WIP Wednesday at  Freshly Pieced.

March 2014 Goals

Here are my goals for the month of March 2014.  First is to get over this stupid cold.  It just won't go away am still coughing.

I want to get a wall hanging done for my niece.  I have an idea in mind just need to find the time to make it.  Am thinking of framed hexies with embroidered castles in the center.

Am linking to ALYoF (button on my sidebar).  Go check out what other people are setting for their goals.  Is usually some nice eye candy.

Saturday, March 1, 2014

This is where I have spent most of this past week.

My darling hubbie shared what doesn't need to be shared.  A horrible cold.  It hit me hard in the chest/lungs and I wasn't able to lay down so been propped up on the couch for the better part of the last week.  Hence got almost nothing done.  Started feeling a little better yesterday and got a few more hexies basted that is it.

Am on the mend now though so hope to get more done this coming week.
